Create your first route
To create a route, open Routes, select the delivery orders for a day, assign a driver and run optimization, then save the route so it appears in the driver's app.
Steps
Step 1: Check the orders are ready to route
Routes are built from local delivery orders that aren't on a route yet. ScrollEngine places each address on the map automatically with your Google Maps key; fix any stop that lands in the wrong place before you plan.
Step 2: Start a new route
Go to Routes and create a route. Choose the delivery date, then select the orders to include. Each order appears as a stop on the map.
Step 3: Set where the route starts and ends
Choose the start point, usually the store or warehouse, and where the route ends. Add a return trip if the driver comes back to base at the end.
Step 4: Assign a driver
Pick the driver who will run the route. Drivers must be invited before they can be assigned; see Invite drivers and install the driver app.
Step 5: Optimize the stop order
Run route optimization to put the stops in the most efficient order. You can plan with live traffic and avoid tolls, and you can still reorder stops by hand afterwards.
Step 6: Review and save
Check the distance and time preview, then save. The route is scheduled, and the driver sees it in the driver app.
Step 7: Print labels and the manifest (optional)
Print shipping labels and a route manifest so packages are loaded in stop order. Labels print on 4x6 thermal or A4 paper.

What this is for:
See the setup for ShopifyBefore you start
- Invite at least one driver: see Invite drivers and install the driver app.
- Add your Google Maps Platform key, which ScrollEngine uses to place addresses and plan routes: see the setup checklist.
What happens when the driver starts
The route goes live when the driver starts it. ETAs are recalculated from the driver's position, arrival at each stop is detected automatically, and customers can follow the driver on your tracking page. Drivers capture proof at each stop: see Capture proof of delivery.

Troubleshooting
If it doesn't work.
Check that it's a local delivery order for the date you chose and isn't already on another route. If the address couldn't be placed on the map, fix the address or send the customer a link to pin their exact location.
The address was placed at the wrong point. Edit the address on the order, or send the customer a location link so they can drop a pin at their door.
Check that the route is saved and assigned to that driver for today, that the driver is signed in to the driver app with the account you invited, and that their role gives them driver app access.
Yes. You can edit a live route, and ETAs are recalculated from the driver's position when the route starts.
