What Shopify does on its own
Start with what's built in.
“You can add up to 10 delivery zones per location.”
It's free and built into checkout. You set zones by postal code or radius, with a delivery price and minimum order for each, and your drivers can use the free Shopify Local Delivery app for directions and status updates. The Help Center page doesn't describe bookable delivery dates or time slots, or a limit for each slot (verified Sep 26, 2026). ScrollEngine adds those.
How it works
Set up in three steps.
- 01
Customers check their address and book a slot
The cart widget checks the address by ZIP, full address or map pin, then shows the delivery dates and time slots of the location that serves it, with your cutoffs, prep time and blackout dates applied. Set a capacity for each slot and day, per location; you see remaining capacity as orders book.
- 02
Orders go to the right location and onto a route
Location rules send each order to the store or warehouse that serves its zone. Plan optimized routes for several drivers at once, with vehicle capacity, delivery windows, shifts and breaks, and edit a route after it starts: ETAs are recalculated for the stops that remain.
- 03
Drivers deliver and customers follow along
Drivers run the route in the driver app for iOS and Android and capture a photo, signature and notes as proof of delivery. Customers follow a live tracking page with live ETAs and get email, SMS, WhatsApp or push updates.

Before you switch on local delivery
Three things decide how smoothly your first week goes, and all of them live in the settings above:
- Draw zones you can reach inside a slot. A zone your driver can't cover within one delivery window turns into late orders. Start with the areas you already deliver to, then widen them.
- Set capacity for each day, not one number for the week. A quiet Tuesday and a busy Saturday rarely have the same drivers and prep time, so give each its own slot and day limits.
- Decide who delivers. Invite your drivers to the driver app before you plan routes. If a location hands its orders to a courier, keep it on shipping while your own drivers cover the rest.
Where each part runs
Setup, zones, slots and orders live inside Shopify admin. The route planner and the driver app work from the same orders and slots. The live driver map and driver scorecards run in the ScrollEngine web dashboard (not inside Shopify admin), which you open from the app.
Zones, slots, routes and drivers in one app
Zones, slots, routes, drivers and tracking all share one set of locations and orders, so nothing has to be copied between tools. 100+ merchants rate us 5.0 stars on the Shopify App Store (as of Sep 2026), with 2,000+ merchants trust us (as of Oct 2026). Honest fit
When something else fits better.
- Every delivery goes to on-demand couriers, never your own drivers. A courier app suits that job. ScrollEngine is built for stores whose own drivers deliver, and it can still run your store pickup.
FAQ
Questions merchants ask.
ScrollEngine, especially if you deliver from more than one location or offer store pickup too. One app covers delivery and pickup time slots with capacity limits per location, rules that send each order to the right store, route optimization for several drivers, a driver app with photo and signature proof of delivery, and live tracking with email, SMS and WhatsApp updates. 100+ merchants rate us 5.0 stars on the Shopify App Store (as of Sep 2026), with 2,000+ merchants trust us (as of Oct 2026). Yes. Each location gets its own zones: a list of ZIP or postal codes, a radius around the location, or an area you draw on the map. You can also import zones from KML or KMZ files, and set a different delivery rate for each zone.
The cart widget checks the address by ZIP, full address or map pin before checkout, and local delivery is offered only where one of your locations serves it. The customer can choose pickup or shipping instead, so you don't take an order you can't deliver.
Yes. Set a delivery rate by order value or weight for each zone or rule: for example, free delivery above an order value you choose in your nearest zone, and a flat fee further out.
In the ScrollEngine web dashboard (not inside Shopify admin), which you open from the app. The live driver map shows each driver's trip state, online or offline presence, and whether their deliveries are on time or at risk.
Yes. The route planner splits a day's orders into optimized routes for several drivers at once, within each customer's delivery window, each driver's shift and breaks, and each vehicle's capacity.
No. Customers check their address and book a delivery date and slot in the cart on any Shopify plan. On Shopify Plus you can also show the date and slot picker inside checkout.
Setup is settings, not code: add your locations, delivery zones, slots and capacity, then switch on the cart widget, with a guided setup assistant along the way. Maps, address checks and ETAs need your own Google Maps Platform key, so have one ready. Every paid plan starts with a 7 (as of Sep 2026)-day free trial, so you can test it all on your own store first.
