Set slot capacity limits

To limit orders per slot, open the location's calendar, set a daily limit and a limit for each slot, then watch remaining capacity as orders book.

Steps

  1. Step 1: Work out what a slot can really hold

Count what limits you in practice: drivers and vans for delivery, counter staff and shelf space for pickup. Limits are set in orders.

  2. Step 2: Open the calendar for the location

Go to Shipping calendar, open the calendar that covers the location and choose the Local Delivery or Store Pickup tab. Each method has its own limits.

  3. Step 3: Set a daily limit

Enter the most orders the location can take for this method in one day. Set it on each day you operate, so a busy Saturday can take more than a quiet Tuesday.

  4. Step 4: Set a limit on each slot

Enter a limit for each slot. Busy slots, such as early evening, can take fewer orders than quiet ones so your team isn't handed everything at once.

  5. Step 5: Save and watch capacity as orders book

Save, then place a test order and check that remaining capacity for that slot and day goes down by one.

How capacity works

Set a capacity for each slot and day, per store; you see remaining capacity as orders book.

The same limits are shared by the cart widget, the checkout picker on Shopify Plus, the POS tile Early access and the delivery details card in Shopify admin.

Plan ahead for busy dates

Lower or raise limits weeks before a holiday, not the night before, and add early slots if you have the staff. The holiday capacity planning guide walks through it.
