"No pickup locations available" on Shopify: why it happens and how to fix it

"No pickup locations available" usually means no location can fulfill the whole order: an item is out of stock there, pickup isn't turned on for that location, or the customer is in another country.

The Shopify rule

What Shopify says.

“By default, pickup in store is available only when the entire order is in stock at the pickup location.”
Shopify Help Center · verified Sep 26, 2026

The built-in way

Do it with Shopify's own settings first.

  1. Check stock at the pickup location

By default, pickup is offered only when every item in the order is in stock at that location. Check each item's inventory at the store in Shopify admin; one out-of-stock item removes that store for the whole order.

  2. Turn on pickup for the location

In Settings › Shipping and delivery › Pickup in store, check that the location offers pickup, has a processing time selected and has pickup instructions saved.

  3. Confirm the location fulfills online orders

A location that doesn't fulfill online orders can't offer pickup. Check the location's settings in Settings › Locations.

  4. Check the customer's country

Customers can view pickup locations only in their country, so a customer whose address is in another country won't see your stores.

  5. Check whether it's a B2B checkout

Pickup in store is turned off by default for B2B. Turn it on for your B2B customers if you want them to collect orders.

  6. Check your theme

If pickup availability doesn't appear on product pages, your theme may not support it. Shopify's Help Center says you can hire a Shopify Partner to add it.

  7. Check excluded collections

If you've excluded collections from pickup or store transfers, check whether the item sits in one. Shopify lets you exclude product collections, but not specific products.

  8. Check your plan's location limit

Shopify's plans cap how many locations you can add: up to 10 on Basic, Grow and Advanced, and up to 200 on Plus (verified Sep 26, 2026). A store you haven't added as a location can't offer pickup.

  9. Test a mixed cart

Shopify now lets customers ship some items and pick up others in the same order, but merchants still report checkout stalling when a pickup-only product sits next to a shippable one (Shopify Community, July 2026). Test that combination yourself.

  1. Let customers choose a store before checkout

The cart widget lists your stores in a list, on a map or in a dropdown, with drive distance and time, and each store shows its own pickup dates and slots.

  2. Warn or block per store

Set each store to warn the customer, or to block pickup there, when it doesn't carry an item, so they choose a store that can fill the order before they reach checkout.

  3. Give every store pickup slots with capacity

Set a capacity for each slot and day, per store; you see remaining capacity as orders book.

A fast way to find the cause

  1. Test with one item you know is in stock at the store. If pickup appears, the cause is stock or a mixed cart.
  2. Test with an address in your own country. If pickup appears, the cause is the customer's country.
  3. Log out of any B2B customer account. If pickup appears, turn it on for B2B.
  4. Check the location's settings. Pickup turned on, a processing time selected, and the location fulfilling online orders.

What Shopify's built-in pickup doesn't do

It's free, sends ready-for-pickup and picked-up emails, and supports store transfers. It uses one processing time per location, so customers can't book a pickup date or time slot, and there's no limit on how many pickups a store takes in an hour or a day.
